Universal Health Care

This has been a debated topic for years and now may be on the verge of becoming a reality. Interestingly enough those who don't work, refuse to work or simply refuse to purchase health insurance on their own will financially crash the government and put a nail in the coffin of individual liberties.


I am going to give some societal background and work back into healtcare... Facts are that in this age fewer and fewer want to claim responsibility for their own actions or lives and would rather have control passed onto a bungling bunch of bobbleheads, aka the congressional body. People seem to have forgot that life is full of risk, anything that offers gain involves risk, that is the price of free choices. But then people found out that free choices may require them to become informed and knowledgable or find someone who is in any area they are looking to make choices... examples include investments and insurance. Lets look at investments.


The first thing an investor is told is that any money invested is "at risk", or has the potential to be lost. This includes any retirement funds, stocks and bonds, CD's or anything else that pays dividends or records interest. Now people are all about the positive interest or dividens but ""oh no!" it can't go negative"... obviously their can be no positive without the negative otherwise everyone would do it. So for those crying about the crash of their investments well their are no guarentees on investments and NO ONE should be bailed out for their own decisions, take the responsibility for freedoms of choice. If you don't I assure you the government will do it for you as they have tried to now.

I do feel for those that have experienced some of this intervention in their 401k and other retirement programs run through their employing corporation. How many have only one "choice" on who to give their money for their 401k? You see the government is like those corporations saying, "give us your money to invest and you can put it with this company that we have chosen for you, or else you can't invest and we won't match any investments"... isn't it more American to be able to choose with whom you'd like to invest rather than being told your ONE CHOICE? This will be health care.


Now let's have a look at insurance, health insurance inparticular. I have held many positions with companies that did not offer health care, "What was I to do?!". Well, I will tell you what I did... I went online and shopped around for insurance offered to individuals that didn't have health insurance and found that many companies offer many types of health insurance for individuals and families. I purchased a plan. It wasn't too bad, in fact better than some of the plans offered by corporations, and it was affordable even for someone making around 20k per year. So it often isn't that people can't find insurance, it's that they don't want to feel like they are paying for it. For many it is a mental thing, as long as it comes out of a paycheck it doesn't feel like they are paying for it. Now the debate comes in that health insurance should be cheaper that what it is, and the only way for it to be cheaper is for hospital costs to be cheaper...

Diving into this one point is true health care would have to be reformed unless you simply look at it from a business perspective, but more on that later.

Back to hospital costs... so hospital procedures cost too much, well much of this is due to those without jobs or simply not wanting to purchase health insurance or illegal immigrants walking into hospitals for care of all ailments ranging from a head cold to surgeries and getting the care for free. So it isn't that they don't get care now already, hospitals have to care for uninsured, the problem is that someone has to pay for it.

All those that have no job or no home or are illegals can't be tracked down to pay for it and so the costs are tacked onto patient procedure costs on for those people that can be tracked down. Now health care is double or triple what it would have to be, insurace costs have to go up to cover the bills and people don't want to pay the premiums for insurance coverage. (This leaves fewer people to purchase insurance and actually also increases premium rates for those that do purchace coverage... a side note.) It is a vicious cycle and one that can't be solved even with what the socialists believe possible and I will explain the concept. So onto potential health care reforms...


The general idea behind socialist health care is that everyone pays into one "pot", that of the government insurance program. With everyone putting money into this one pool it, WITHOUT HAVING A CHOICE ABOUT IT MIND YOU, the government can use the money to pay out a little bit at a time to those that need it for their bills. Seems like it might be a good idea since not everyone is sick at the same time right? Well it isn't a good idea. I'll tell you why... have you ever noticed, those of you with health insurance, that bills are always more than you can pay in one lump sum. This is of course for the reasons I already listed, but then why would it work any different on the government level with all the people in the country involved? It would because workers would pay for all the other leechers of society much the same way all the taxes are paid by only half the people in this country, kind of what you already do now anyway. The only thing that could truly change anything is to lower the procedural cost, artificially mind you, through a government pricing system.

Anyone that has taken economics might no a bit about creating artificial pricings... it is done for many commodities and goods, argueably good or bad for a market economy, but a service is a competition industry in a market economy and setting artificial pricings can only do one thing, eliminate competition. That seems good, maybe? But no, by eliminating competition in a market system you no longer have hospitals or doctors striving to be the best, the exact reason why we have the best health care in the world. With no reason to be the best, health care quality dramatically decreases, available technology and the advanced developments cease, and everyone suffers together as one society in this socialist plan. Simply do the research, it is evident in all the nations that have a socialist style health care system.


The much tougher decision is to look at this problem from a strict business aspect and eliminate hospital care

first thoughts

There is a… “Once upon a time”… scenario going on in this country right now. Why, because… “We the People”… have allowed government to turn this great country onto the downslide of third world, socialist ruin.

We, the country, are broke… our fanatic body of elected “representatives” have busted our finances, are now trying to squeeze blood from a stone and have, slowly over time, built a socialist home atop and around our capitalist government foundation.

Our government is, and has been for some time, incompetent, inept, and corrupt (not to mention anti-American), but please don’t forget our government is not a single all powerful entity… it is a bunch of individuals seemingly more interested in themselves than “we the people”. More interested in running your lives for you than protecting our liberties and freedoms that were bestowed upon us in the US Constitution.

Our individual freedoms and liberties ride on the edge, teetering into the realm of socialism, sacrificed for the “greater good”. There are a few quoted statements that I would like to list here:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare that causes which impel them to the separation.”


“…That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. …when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them (the people) under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

Some reasons for our original Declaration of Independence:

“He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.”

For those that believe this to be scare tactics, you are very mistaken, living behind the walls of your secluded world, most likely those of an institution for “higher” learning”, for too long. While, some do look for answers most feel it is utterly hopeless. But, there are answers and there is hope… there is always hope. While our biggest problem is the government that has run out of control there exists much simpler problems that once addressed would reroute our country to our identity of a free country with secured individual liberties and right to pursue dreams and happiness.


First problem is… the government format that has been molded and accepted over years and years since the original founders designed one that preserved the liberties of the individual American citizen.

I believe two sources of our problems lie a)… in the belief that the US Constitution is a “living” document
and b)… that we have no sense of identity.
More to point we are a Republic, NOT a democracy.

It is NOT a “living” document. Government can get away with saying this because few in government have ever read it, let alone understand it, and it definitely is avoided in most education institutions. The Constitution was written as a guiding light, a beacon for future generations to understand what is most important for a people… to hold their government, their PEERS, accountable as well as understanding great nations are built upon the shoulders of great individuals. Powers are granted from the consent of the governed and that the governors are obligated to defend the inalienable rights of the governed, being “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” against any threat to those freedoms, including those that may be within the government themselves.

Our government has not evolved natuarally from the people but from the interest of elected officials governing in their own best interests. As soon as we developed career politicians the government suffered the continual influence of the populace that would have developed over the years.
Being that these ridiculous excuses for representatives can't balance books they also sacrificed states' rights as they continued in their best interests. The more money the states absorbed from the federal government, and happened to eventually depend on and even include in the states' budgets, the more freedoms that were removed from the states by the federal government simply with the threat of pulling the funding. The federal government sucked up almost complete control over the states' governments and then began to work on the individual citizens.

Government has spent millions to divide groups of American people along lines of sex... also racial, financial and religious lines, in the hopes, and successfully so, that we will be easier to control and so worried about group rights that we won’t see the big picture... that the government is wriggling its way into complete control over our lives. We are made to worry that without government and their programs we could never get along in our everyday lives, that we NEED them. However, the most successful enterprises are run by individuals in the private sector. Government bureaucracy, the red tape, wastes so much time and money that by the time funding gets to where it needs to be a huge % of it is burned off… Smaller governments, by the people, state to state, actually saves money and ensures that the projects that are needed are getting done in the areas needed. Also, it ensures that the people can keep a closer eye on the doings of the government to ensure there are not "bridges to nowhere" built. Really... with the size of the federal government, how much can you keep track of to ensure your tazes are not being misspent? How do you know your taxes are going to projects that you can make use of? Fact is that if you only had to keep track of state governments then you truly would have a better chance of tracking activity. Through all this I am not saying the federal government is useless... I am just saying that the main job of the federal government is to provide a standing army for the defense of the people and to allocate assistance to feuding state governements.

branches…
executive – the presidential branch
does incompetence say it all? Not quite, maybe blatant swindling, self- righteous, self-serving, socialists says a bit more. There is no concern for the actual well-being of the people, the information that is put out is biased and tainted and now put out by the branch itself. Can you here the whispers of communism?

legislative – the congressional branch
What Constitution? What legislative process? Let’s just get together and pass
bills in “emergency sessions” without debate. Why should we use the methods
of government developed to represent the voters, this new government is just
so much better, ignoring the voice of the people.

judicial – the courts
These courts, what can one say… lifetime judges, yeah bad idea. Checks and
balances? Not for the courts. When the people vote and the courts overturn
the voice of the people, the courts have too much power and not enough
checks of that power.


How do we let the people, that don’t have the qualifications to run a McDonald’s, ignore our voting voices and turn a cold shoulder to the Constitution? These same people that plan and execute not only our year long operating budget, but the laws that govern our safety and shortly steal our individual liberties and rights?


Second problem is… the federal budget which of course leads into health care, education and energy

There is not a single person that would be allowed to operate their home budget the way our
government runs our country’s budget. Why is it then that we allow our government to conduct
themselves in such a fashion? Most often in our everyday lives, we find ourselves in debt but when payments on that debt begin to drown us we look for another job to help cover the costs. At that point we hope that a lesson is learned to control spending and get a grip on that rising debt, slowing it and eventually paying it down. In a worse case scenario, bankruptcy is declared and most often anything we may have owned is sold off to pay what we can towards the bankrupted debt.

First and foremost the heaviest spending toll on our country comes from illegal immigrants and refugee acceptance. Illegal immigrants and refugees are the base source of financial problems in several areas including health care, education and employment. This is a topic many don’t want to cover or recognize as a problem but it is essential to address if there is any hope of saving our country from our government and third world obscurity. I believe that it is a taboo because when discussing illegal immigration everyone immediately assume Mexican peoples are referred to… this is not the case here. I don’t care whether you are Mexican, Canadian, or from some European country, South American country, Asian or African country if you are illegal you need to be removed from this country and proceed with a law abiding method toward US citizenship. I would like to say that I am an advocate for immigration, but LEGAL immigration, and yes sometimes you have to follow rules by the very government being criticized, so odd.

Legal immigration is the rock the country was built upon and is something that should be actively pursued but within laws. More on this later, for now back to illegal immigration and health care.

Let us look into the health care system and its infectious disease, illegal immigration. These days everyone wonders why health care is so expensive, complain that no one can afford it and now the insurance companies can’t afford it with out charging huge premiums and therefore citizens can’t afford the insurance that would assist in health care costs. Emergency rooms and clinics shut down with alarming frequency due to unpaid, uncollectable bills from covering the medical expenses of illegal immigrants and refugees that storm into emergency rooms and clinics for ailments as simple as the common cold. Since they don’t get charged, nor pay for the service, nor can they be refused service, others have the bill past onto them, by way of rising costs for every service provided to those that must pay, the everyday American citizen.

Universal health care is not needed, and it is the worst possible health care decision, we simply must just get those that are treated to pay the bills. If everyone paid, there would be more affordable health care. Illegals should be ousted, oh and they further affect health care cost in several other ways and costs for many other programs our tax money goes to, driving up overall costs by all the free benefits they actually collect from our taxes! And for those idiots that believe that all illegal immigrants are field workers that pick fruit in the hot sun and so they actually fill a labor need… grow up. It is well beyond that. They take many levels of jobs and now, with the recession that we are stuck in, they are taking jobs that would be available for those out of work. They find ways to gain employment at shopping centers, fast food restaurants and blue collar factory jobs… does that sound like they aren’t taking any jobs that Americans would want to work?

health care – costs rise due to lawyers, pharmaceuticals, illegal immigrants
despite what many believe, the best health care facilities in the world and health care professionals are within the United States. There is not a Socialist health care system in the
world that can compete with the quality of care offered in even mediocre health care facilities
in the United States. The essential element that makes our health care so effective is competition. Many would not understand how competition works, but ideally the better you
are, the more profit that can be generated. So there is a drive to be the best, hire the best and
provide the best care possible. Of course the drive to be the best also costs money and there is
an implicitly direct correlation of cost to quality relationship existing. If you really want an
example of a universal health care system on our US soil travel down to your local VA hospital
and do just a basic visual comparison between private and government health care. Then
immagine all hospitals being just like that, regardless of how much money you have.

taxes – what can one say about taxes? … they suck! And well they aren’t very well understood or clearly tracked. There are opponents to a flat tax but fact is, it generates the needed funding
in the most cost effective way. There aren’t loopholes, everyone pays and people pay less than under the current system, but politicians would have less power and leverage over the people… hmm, no wonder they don’t like it. Half the populace pays all of the taxes. Too many loopholes in the current system for those that can afford high price attourneys and too many loopholes for those suckin off the government programs. The middle class always foots the bill. If a flat tax was implemented there would be no need for loopholes since everyone would just pay a percent out of each check... lower than what we pay on income tax currently. you should read up on the concept.

GDP – oh what it was when we made and bought products from US companies. Made in the USA has
gone the way of the Dodo. When 66% of the GDP is consumer spending, we do not have
enough factory or blue collar jobs here. These jobs create that base of the middle class, create the wealth of the GDP, but we are now destroying the few factories we have left by this green bullshit.
Did you know that in the 70’s, these same politicians were young and protesting global cooling! In fact the bright ideas then was that we pump as much pollution in the air as possible to induce a greenhouse effect.
Once again these are the scholars running policy. I really love mentioning this little fact, and
pay attention… we can not do anything to affect the natural swings of global warming and
cooling that occur naturally over the living life of this planet. There were times when the
carbon dioxide levels were well beyond today’s levels.. this was the time of the giant reptiles,
yup the dinosaurs! In short green jobs will be the nail in the coffin that finishes off our economy.
We need factory jobs and corporations here to ensure that our wealth is not based solely on consumer spending.


trade imports – well, exports are pretty slim… this was mentioned , what wasn’t was the
ridiculus idea of free import trading. Why do we lack jobs here, aside from unions (more on that to follow), we lack jobs because paying for cheaper labor in other countries isn’t punished by tariffs on imports. If US companies are to compete there must be a “X-factor” to give the edge, but why would the government want to support the US worker? Well between the
taxes and unions that government supports it doesn’t leave much room for US business and
corporations. Here is a little tidbit, those evil corporations are the ones that employ the people.
Did you know that corporations give out bonuses based on the fact that if that money was
reinvested it would be double taxed, as a bonus, it is only taxed once. There is an awful lot
about business that most don’t know; before you agree with a statement because it sounds
good, do a little research.

unions – not a fan… they can destroy an entire business sector (autos, education!) Most economists will tell you that unions destroy the workforce, put artificial floors on salaries and thereby also restrict the earning ceiling that workers would be able to make and in most cases do not ensure that those in the union are any better at what they do than a non-union worker. Let’s take a few cases:
The airlines… the most successful financial airline is non-union. Cars built
in the US… well guess what aside from the union failings of GM and the like, there are car
companies that are non-union and very successful. Being in the state of unions, California, I can
can also point out the most affordable and most successful grocery store chain is, once again,
non-union.
What people fail to understand is that in this time and age unions don’t have any real
power any longer. They sign contracts that they pretend to have negotiated only to have
actually killed their working environment over the time of their negotiations, the actors strike,
writers strike, the hockey strike, and well look at how long it took baseball to have some
semblance of recovery. If one was to actually look into the negatives of unions you would
have to wonder why they would be used at all. But then again those union heads would no
longer be able to collect union member’s money as salary for doing nothing. But then again,
that is what politicians do with taxpayer money so perhaps this is why government often favors
unions. I babble… I really wanted to bring home a point that one of the key problems with
our education system is unions.


education – unions, language, accountability… first problem with education is the inability for the
teachers to teach. Did you know that there is a large percentage of teachers who cannot pass
a basic math exam! But because of unions, those poor teachers are allowed to teach, they have
no accountability for their job. Now I am not saying that all kids should pass everything in order
for it to be a representation of the teacher’s ability, some kids are just not going to pass every
subject, but there are many teachers that are well known for there lack of ability and should be
subject to perhaps a test themselves or just removed as many in other areas of the workforce
are, due to incompetence. If you can’t remove teachers that can’t teach how do we expect
our kids to learn?




second problem is language… (and this is a bigger issue but will be specific to education)


We live in the US. We speak English. If we were to move to France, we’d expect to learn French. If we were to move to Egypt, we’d expect to learn Arabic. Why is it then that when I
live in the US, I have to learn every other language, isn’t that a waste of time and energy. What
is more cost effective, for a people to learn tens of languages or everyone learn one? My point
is that if you are accepted in legally to live here you need to know English. Specifically to
education, it is hard to learn subjects in one language, how can we dilute our funding to
support a bunch of languages. People wonder were the funding goes to? It has nothing to do
with anything more that making our funding count. I love languages and the study of languages
but not when it affects the system of education. If you want to learn in your language go to
school in a country that uses that language in its education program.

Now this all comes from a very common man, educated in the university and yet also amongst the populous of factory workers and farmers, customer service workers and financiers. I have been bankrupt, defaulted on loans, and homeless. I am not perfect. I have struggled and persevered to fight back from these brinks of disaster through the graces of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But I have also realized that it is a pursuit and for all those that would make it big there must be those that fall. It is this understanding that has created a nation of people that care for each other and give more to charities than any other peoples in the world. This is what can happen in a society of free people. The government is destroying this freedom, trying to convince the masses that they can run your life better than you. Take up the duty of a citizen and take 15 minutes a day to learn about the details of some of these topics. Be knowledgeable and take advantage of your freedoms, we may not have them much longer.
